Scandinavian Tundra Retreat
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Scandinavian Tundra Retreat is a short-term rental designed around calm, simplicity, and longevity. Drawing inspiration from Nordic interiors and natural landscapes, the space emphasizes restraint, warmth, and balance.
DESIGN INTENT
The intent was to create a space that felt grounding and serene—an environment where guests could relax without visual noise. The design prioritizes simplicity and cohesion, allowing materials and proportion to do the work rather than decorative excess.
KEY CHALLENGES
The challenge was creating a space that felt warm and inviting while remaining minimal and highly functional. With a restrained palette and clean lines, every selection needed to feel purposeful and considered to avoid the space feeling flat or underwhelming.
Durability and repeatability were also important factors for long-term rental use.
DESIGN APPROACH
A neutral color palette was layered with natural textures and warm wood tones to create depth without clutter. Furnishings were selected for comfort, simplicity, and ease of maintenance, while layouts were kept intuitive and flexible for a variety of guests.
The design was intentionally timeless, allowing it to remain relevant and appealing over time.
OUTCOME
The finished space feels calm, cohesive, and quietly elevated. It offers broad guest appeal while maintaining a refined aesthetic, making it both easy to operate and easy to replicate across additional properties.
